Can I have a tiara too?

I’m not a royalist and certainly not for a Royal family not my own, but I did watch the wedding because I wanted to see Kate’s dress. I had a few things in mind for the dress like long sleeves and lace and this dress delivered! I love it, it reminded me greatly of Grace [...] → Continue Can I have a tiara too?

Le goût du jour - 1920

Fashion plate – Le goût du jour

Breton suit trimmed with fox collar cuffs of white muslin. Embroidered waistcoat, yellow cloth gaiters. This fashion plate is from 1920 and shows a very 1950′s silhouette don’t you think? I was quite surprised to see it since it differs so much from the silhouette of the time. Le goût du jour was a French [...] → Continue Fashion plate – Le goût du jour

Finally spring

My apologies for not posting so long. I can’t believe it’s 2 months since my last post. During exams and the break after it I sort of let things slide and I guess I needed some time off. I’m not sure if I’m back yet. Time will show. Here in Belgium we had great weather [...] → Continue Finally spring

Capri pants for the pear-shaped – yay or nay

I’ve looked at the lookbook of the Essentiel spring/summer 2011 collection and love these capris. Do you think you can look good in capris if you are very pear-shaped? I would love to make myself a pair in the style of these, but I’m scared my bottom will look big (… okay, bigger than it [...] → Continue Capri pants for the pear-shaped – yay or nay

Bohemian fashion

Today as I was browsing fashion blogs my love for bohemian dress rekindled again. I spend the next few hours looking for beautiful bohemian images. I just love all the busy prints, the flowing dresses, the layers,… It’s a style that makes me feel free and capable of anything, I can certainly use that. While [...] → Continue Bohemian fashion

High end fashion in 1958

Another post with images I liked from the French L’officiel magazine. The first outfit I would love to make. Notice the high waists in all these outfits.

Vintage pregnancy corset

This is a pregnancy corset worn by my grandmother. She says she wore this corset with all her pregnancies, but I’m not so sure of this. One reason is that she has Alzheimer so you can’t always be sure of what she says and two that would mean she wore this corset until halfway the [...] → Continue Vintage pregnancy corset

What we wore

Today I have a link to the BBC archive. In the category ‘What we wore’ you can find old fashion oriented programs from as far back as 1957! ‘Men, women and clothes’, a 6 part program is especially interesting if you are in historical costumes and vintage clothes. It shows the fashions between 1720 and [...] → Continue What we wore

Pink playsuit with skirt

I love this outfit. I think the skirt is detachable so you can make 2 outfits with it. The bloomer-styled bottom and the hat with bow are adorable. I would make this outfit in another colour because this pink is to pale for my skin.
